If you read my previous post about how you can get some powerful back links from video social media sites, you’re probably wondering how to create some videos to submit to sites like YouTube and Yahoo video.  Other then the video from my Mazda Blog (which was easy to create since I just had to film the smoke coming out of my Mazda CX-7) I wasted few days trying to figure out how to create more videos for my other blogs.  Like me you probably don’t have a professional or even semi professional video creation setup to make videos to submit.  Let me show you an easy short cut!

I discover Animoto from one of the videos I watched from Dot Com Secrets.  Animoto is one of the tools I can’t live without since I first tried it.  All you need is a few related pictures for the product you are marketing or niche you want to create a video for and you can have a nice video with royalty free music as soundtrack in about 20 minutes or less (pending on the length of the video you’re creating)

Simply visit: Animoto (free version is a good start which allows you to create a 30 second video)

Step 2:  Select one of the great templates available

Step 3.  Upload the pictures you want to use for your video (don’t worry about effect, Animoto will take care of all that)

Step 4.  Select one of the hundreds of royalty free music soundtracks.

Step 5.  You’re all done, just wait for Animoto to spit out the video for you to submit to video social networks.

This video below took me about 5 minutes to make and another 5 minutes for Animoto to create the final product.

You can’t visit a money making blog these days without coming across some kind of advice on back linking.  I don’t think anyone will argue that back links to your blog or site is an essential if you want your site to climb up in search engine rankings.   I’ve notice recently the increase in sales pitch about building back links using social media sites.   Before we get into that, you should know why building back links using these video social media sites and web 2.0 articles sites are gaining popularity.

We’re going to talk about VIDEO sites first, and use YouTube as an example:

Few month back I started a blog call MySmokingMazdaCX7.com for reasons to long for me to get into, this was a brand spanking new domain and I wanted it indexed and gaining traffic from Mazda CX-7 owners ASAP.

I was just discovering and toying with the power of social media, and figure why not go with one of the biggest one out there!  After creating a short little video about my Mazda CX-7 puffing smoke for no reason and uploaded it to YouTube and spend a few minutes to fill out a profile with a link to my blog, the blog showed up in Google index in less then 48 hours.

It took whole 72 hours before I was ranked #1 for the term “Smoking Mazda CX-7″ and took about a week before it was rank for variations of that term.   Now I know you’re thinking, it’s not a competitive keyword, so it’s not nothing to brag about, and you’re spot on.

Few days later I decided to compile a list of popular video sites and submit the same video to it and see what would happen.  To my surprise, some of the videos started to show up on Google organic searches higher then the YouTube video!

Few more weeks went by, and after looking through Analytics I realized I was getting traffic for over 500 different keywords!  Not only I was getting traffic from various Mazda long-tail keywords.  It didn’t take too long before this happened.

Yup!  I was on the first page for the keyword “Mazda CX 7″ right under Mazda’s own website.

This was obviously a small project and I was going up against keywords that was relatively easy to obtain.  But the surprise discovery was the power of using video sites to link back to our site, and the organic results you can achieve by submitting a few videos.

I’ve since been learning and utilizing a few more advance back link building using video social media sites, one particular program I’ve been able to learn some amazing tricks from is Dark Side of Dot Com Secrets.  It’s not quite ‘Black Hat’ but their methods are so efficient that you  feel like it should be.

I know there are more social media sites then just these three, but I call them the big three. But which one should you use? Well that all depends. You want traffic? back links? conversion on a CPA?

Without going into details of the methods I used,  this is my quick take on it:

YouTube – Great way to build back links to your site. I’ve made some real quick slide show videos to a fairly new domain (less then 7 days) and have it indexed in less then 48 hours. I’ve yet to find much traffic value from YouTube, but to be fair I’ve yet to create any contents that’s worth going viral.

FaceBook -  FaceBook Page or Group (which I’ve yet to figure out the difference) has done wonders for me as far as traffic goes.  It’s not a massive instant increase like StumbleUpon can generate, but it VERY consistent with very minimal work and updates on your FaceBook fan page or group.  I’ve also noticed FaceBook traffic DOES convert (very well I might add).  It’s no wonder more and more eBook are popping up about making millions using FaceBook advertisement (which I have yet to try, so if you know of a good eBook on this please let me know)

Twitter - This is a hit or miss, I think it really depends on your tweet follower.  If you have a good core group of followers for the right niche you can really bank on this.  The results are almost instant, I can tweet an offer and see $50-$100 in matter of minutes, but when you miss the niche target it’s just a waste of a tweet.

I will discuss in detail some of the methods I’ve tried with these three sites in the days to come.  What worked for me and what was a waste of time.   Unfortunately like every popular sites out there, you have to fight against the spammers, but instead of hating them I tried to take advantage of it.  One method that consistently worked for me is follow the spam.

What is Follow the Spam?  There are 2 advantages about Follow the Spam.  First, I’ve used some of the most creative spam subject lines from email  or  tweet spams.  Second, what are the spammers pushing?  If they’re not making money spamming that stuff they wouldn’t be pushing it.  So I set myself up with Gmail account that I use to sign up for every list I can find, and give it a few hours (yes, I said a few hours) the email will roll right in.  Then it’s as simple as scanning through what  you noticed the most, and break it down to why it made you open that particular email or read that particular tweet.
